Finding places to travel in the middle of a pandemic is not easy, but I’m lucky enough to have a group of responsible friends who, like me, are trying to find a little bit of light during these days. This is how we safely drove from Miami to North Carolina.
None of us feels comfortable traveling on a plane yet, so we decided to take another road trip, this time instead of the beach, we decided to drive up north to North Carolina. We found an amazing cabin in Cashiers, NC and we booked it almost three months in advance – we like to plan ahead!
We were all very responsible and got tested before the trip to make sure we were all healthy!

The drive:
We drove the new 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer. If you’ve been here for a while, you know I LOVE driving, it gives me peace in moments of uncertainty and this little SUV won my heart.
If you’re in the lookout for a new vehicle, I would recommend this one with my eyes closed and here’s why: Its compact size makes it comfortable to drive while it had enough space to fit 6 people comfortably. It made me feel SAFE, it has sensors in every corner so there’s no way to scratch it.
Another random feature I loved was the automatic lights, since we were in the mountains, often times we had to change from high beams to regular (depending if there were cars coming), the trailblazer would simply change automatically and we could just focus on driving. (I’m a geek for cool little features lol!)
Lastly, it may be small, but it’s STRONG, it went up and down the hills like nothing! I truly enjoyed driving it!
First Stop: St. Augustine, FL
It took us around 4hrs 30min to get to this little town, weather was perfect! We stretched our legs, went to the restroom and got ourselves a sandwich. We found a nice park with tables, as far from people as possible and we enjoyed a few hours of fresh air and delicious food.

We got lunch (take-out) from @sunday___everyday , the food was delicious and can’t wait to be back after COVID and eat at the restaurant since their aesthetic is gorgeous!
Second Stop: Savannah, GA
We decided to sleep in Savannah since it was getting late and we were all tired, we found a beautiful airbnb to stay the night and continued our road trip the next day.
In the morning we went to a restaurant with outdoor dining to have brunch. It was my first time since March that I ate at a restaurant, I couldn’t believe it and it felt amazing. Food was amazing! I had a mushroom toast with a cappuccino but the table’s popular dish was the avocado toast. YUM!

Third and last stop: Cashiers, NC
We made it! We stayed at a beautiful cabin in Cashiers, NC perfect to fit all of us. During our stay we did a few hikes nearby, we went to the Smokey Mountains, Asheville and we also went tubing which was so much fun!
