Al igual que amo manejar, amo los road trips! Especialmente cuando los hago con las personas que más quiero en el mundo!
Hace dos años manejé con mi hermano desde Miami a North Carolina para dejarlo en la Universidad y amueblar su apartamento de estudiante. Ahora manejé junto a mis papás y mi novio esas mismas horas para verlo graduarse.
Salimos a las 8am en la nueva camioneta Atlas de Volskwagen y no podría haber pedido una camioneta mejor para este road trip! Es espaciosa, cómoda y extremadamente suave para manejar!
Many of you might already know that I love driving and I love road trips! Specially when I do them with the people I love!
Two years ago I drove with my brother all the way from Miami to North Carolina where he was going to be doing his MBA. Now I drove with my parents and Alex those crazy 12+ hours to see him graduate.
We started the road trip at 8am in the new Volkswagen Atlas, I couldn’t have asked for a better SUV for this trip. It has so much space, it’s comfortable and it drives super smooth.
Siempre he tenido una conexión con Volkswagen ya que mi primer carrito fue un Beetle que adoraba, y el primer carro de mi hermano fue un Gol de la misma marca. Por eso cuando tuve la oportunidad de manejar la Atlas, me emocioné tanto que yo maneje esas 12 horas feliz!
Mis características favoritas de la VW Atlas:
– La suavidad al manejarla: uno se imagina que manejar un auto tan grande es pesado y que el volate sea súper duro, pero es todo lo contrario! Es uno de los carros más cómodos y suaves que he manejado en mi vida.
– Cruise Control: Soy amante del cruise control cuando hago viajes largos. Lo que me encantó del Atlas es que puede medir la velocidad del carro de adelante! Es decir, si el carro de adelante va a una velocidad de 65mph y tu tienes el cruise control a 75mph la camioneta va a bajar la velocidad a 65mph sin necesitad de pisar el freno. Literalmente es como un robot inteligente!
– El espacio: Caben 7 personas cómodamente.
– Seguridad: La camioneta tiene sensores en cada esquina que te avisa que tan cerca estás de la pared o del carro más cercano, ¡no hay manera que choques!
My favorite features of the VW Atlas:
– How smooth it is to drive: you would imagine that a SUV that size feels heavy and that the steering wheel is super hard but the Atlas was so easy to drive.
– The cruise control: I’m a fan of cruise control, specially for long road trips. What I loved the most about the Atlas is that it can measure the speed of the car in front of you. That means that if the vehicle in front of you is going 65mph and your cruise control is set at 75mph, the Atlas will lower the speed to match the one of the car in front of you without you having to hit the breaks! It literally feels like a super smart robot!
– The space: It fits 7 people comfortable.
– Safety: The SUV has sensors in every corner and it tells you when you are too close to a wall or to another vehicle. There’s no way you scratch the Atlas!
Nuestra primera parada fue Savannah, aquí comimos súper rico y pasamos la noche para que la manejada no fuese tan canzona.
Llegamos y nos encontramos a mis hermanos y a mi Yaya, fue todo tan perfecto que entrábamos los siete cómodamente en la camioneta (yey por no tener que gastar dinero en uber!). Ese mismo día fuimos a una cena con un grupo de estudiantes latinos y sus familias y comimos delicioso!
Our first stop was Savannah, we ate at an amazing restaurant and we spent the night at a hotel to rest for a little bit since we still had 5 more hours of driving.
We got there and we met with my two siblings and my Yaya. It was perfect because we all fit comfortable in the Atlas (yay for not spending money on uber!) That same night we had a dinner with a group of students and their families. Food was bomb!
El día de la graduación de mi hermano fue bastante caluroso y por eso decidí ponerme un vestido blanco bien fresco con unos de los tacones más cómodos que tengo ya que sabía que iba a caminar bastante, aún así después de 7 horas caminando en montaña, terminé comprándome unas pantuflas en la tienda de la universidad jajaja!
Mi parte favorita de la graduación fue poder haber pasado varios días con mi familia, teníamos años que no nos veíamos todos en el mismo lugar y la verdad me llenó el alma!
De regreso decidimos manejar directo las 12-14 horas, que tengo que admitir fue bastante cansón, pero pasó mucho más rápido de los que pensábamos!

Graduation day came and it was like 100 degrees outside! That’s why I decided to wear a white comfy dress and one of the comfiest heels I own, but I have to admit, after walking like 7 hours going up and down hill, I had to stop at the school store to buy a pair of slippers lol!
My favorite part of the graduation was without a doubt spending the time with my family, it has been like 2 years since we were all together!
On the way back, we decided to drive the 12-14 hours non-stop, and I have to admit, I was super tired when I got home but it was totally worth it!
